Welcome to The Sportsman

"A Real Country Pub with an abundance of Character!"

Folklore depicts that the original core of this wonderful building was a hunting lodge for Henry VIII, dated around 1532.

Surrounded by heathland, The Sportsman is renowned for dog walkers, ramblers (some seeking out the historic coal marker posts on the boundary of the heather fringed Walton Heath Golf Course), horse riders, runners, cyclists and family gatherings. It’s also a stopping point on the path of a traditional Derby Day walk through to the Epsom course.

With both bar and restaurant dining, the scenic frontage and extensive side gardens create a happy and jovial atmosphere for all ‘walks of life’. Seemingly, what ever the weather!

The Sportsman team look forward to welcoming you back as soon as we are able. We take pride in delivering friendly, attentive customer service with a smile.

One thing we love is being a dog friendly establishment but due to a few temporary changes we ask that all dogs stay in our pub garden and on leads for the moment.

We do still have little bags of doggy treats so they won't go hungry.

We are always looking for positive and enthusiastic new candidates to join our team.
